A manual staple gun drives staples straight into a substrate without folding them, and is therefore not limited to a certain thickness of the wood you attach your sheet material to. Use it where small nails would work, but you want to be faster... Uses type 53 staples of length 6-14 mm.

Office staplers are most commonly used to bind stacks of paper with staples that are driven through by punching the lever and bent around by a small "anvil" on the tool's foot.
