We have "typical" handheld wire brushes as well as drill-driven circular ones ("wire brush bits").

Besides for touching up all kinds of rusty, patinated or otherwise unsightly metal pieces, wire brushes are handy for cleaning "live edge" wood (i.e. what's left behind after you break off the bark) which would be very tedius with sandpaper.
