Shop rags (Lumpen) are useful for many projects, so we usually have a box of old towels, bedsheets, curtains or whatever in the handheld wood tool area. Feel free to add useful bits to this collection, but dispose dirty ones of course!
While paper towels are fine (and probably more sustainable) for most cleaning purposes, using old fabric for certain tasks does have its advantages!
Example uses:
- applying finishing products (paper towels would be rubbed to bits)
- polishing workpieces on the wood lathe
- protecting delicate surfaces when you need to place them face-down
- ...?
