Idea

When cutting threads with the Metal Lathe special gears are needed for the right transmission. These didn't have a dedicated place or container before and were just lying around the Hot Metal Area.

Creation Steps / Process

I designed a simple organizer to hold the gears and their related parts. Since the gears have the same thickness, I designed equal slots that can all fit the largest gear. For now only 8 out of the 10 slots are used but that may change in the future.

Since the metal parts amount to some weight I didn't want to hang it by just a few screws as this would lead to a permanent strain of the material. Therefore the organizer is placed on top a metal angle that carries most of the weight. The material I chose was then PLA because it doesn't have to hold much load.

Learnings

Similar to the projects I did in parallel (Project:Press Tool for Headset Cups Holder and Project:Hard Soldering Torch Holder), this one showed me another possibility of metal hardware supporting printed models.
