This VGA (female) to HDMI (male) adapter is useful for hooking up computers without VGA output to our projector.
Problem with Windows
Under Windows 10 (and perhaps other OS) the computer will try to play sound via the newly connected "HDMI" device which kills the projector.
Solution: in your computer's sound settings, deactivate the projector (called something like "VGA audio" or so) and make sure your actual speakers are defined as the audio output device. Then disconnect the cable, reboot the projector (easiest via "F10" in the common room fuse box) and connect the cable again.
