Stone

Synonyms: brick, rock, masonry; DE: Stein, Fels, Ziegel
Suggested Tools: masonry drill bits,
disc grinder (with proper disc!)
laser cutter

Of course there is way more to "stone" than this tiny page, but it's something we haven't really worked with a lot.

Engraving

engravings might turn out light or dark

Many kinds of stone can be laser engraved! There will certainly be differences between some minerals, but it seems most yield a lightly colored engraving. Test with a similar stone if you can!

Slate (Schiefer) is particularly popular due to the high contrast you can achieve.

To let the engraving pop on any [citation needed] kind of stone, go for a "wet look" by applying wax or clear lacquer!

colorless paraffin wax is very easy to get and much "cleaner" than lacquer
