Engineered woods (a.k.a. sheet goods, reformed wood, wood materials; DE: Holzwerkstoffe) are manmade materials that overcome some limitations of wood while (usually) trying to maintain its look or other desirable properties - for example, engineered panels may be much wider than a tree or less prone to warp or break than a solid piece.
