Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) is perhaps the most beginner-friendly welding technique due to its low equipment requirements and is known by many names:
- stick welding
- manual metal arc welding (MMA, MMAW)
- Lichtbogenschweißen, Lichtbogenhandschweißen, Lichtbogenschmelzschweißen
- Elektrodenschweißen, Elektroschweißen
The high current needed for SMAW is usually supplied by a welding transformer or an inverter.
We are currently working on establishing SMAW in the CoMakingSpace (see issue #10) so there should soon be more content!
