This is the content required for an introduction to our Oscillating Tool - reading this does NOT replace the mandatory session with a tutor! It will make it a lot quicker though ;-)

Let's begin! First off, make sure you have read the machine's manual (for a link please see the tools page).

Safety

Dangers

An oscillating tool is basically a fast moving tool with different attachments, which can be Saws, Sandpaper or other attachments. Therefore, similar dangers exists:

  • sawdust and small splinters can fly towards the operator and others
  • When cutting into metal, sparks can be generated and fly towards the operator
  • medium amount of noise, but close to the operator's head
  • no prevention of turning on after loss & restoration of power (keine Anlaufsicherung)

Precautions

  • wear goggles to protect your eyes from sparks, splinters and other things flying around
  • wear ear defenders
  • wear gloves
  • ensure the attachment you are using is proper for the material you are cutting into
  • ensure the material is well attached to a solid surface
  • if the power has been lost for whatever reason, always switch the power switch to "OFF" before restoring it!

Demonstration

The tutor will show you these steps in detail:

  • How to operate the oscillating tool
  • How to change the attachment
