Oscillating Tool Introduction: Difference between revisions

This is the content required for an introduction to our oscillating tool - reading this does NOT replace the mandatory session with a tutor! It will make it a lot quicker though ;-)

Let's begin! First off, make sure you have read the machine's manual.

Safety

Personal protection:

(dependening on your workpiece and action, also wear a dust mask - this is especially important when using a sanding attachment)

An oscillating tool is basically a fast moving tool with different attachments for cutting, rasping or sanding. Therefore, similar dangers as with power saws or sanders exist:

Dangers	Precautions
sawdust and small splinters can fly towards the operator and others when cutting into metal, sparks can be generated and fly towards the operator	wear goggles to protect your eyes from sparks, splinters and other things flying around
medium amount of noise, but close to the operator's head	wear ear defenders
attachments might bind with the material if used inappropriately or too forcefully, causing excessive wear of the attachments and vibrations in the handle	use only very little pressure and let the rapid oscillation do the work! ensure you are using the proper attachment for the material you are working with ensure the attachment is securely connected to the tool's head ensure the material is well attached to a solid surface
no prevention of turning on after loss & restoration of power (keine Anlaufsicherung)	if the power has been lost for whatever reason, always switch the power switch to "OFF" before restoring it!

how to operate the oscillating tool
how to attach the shop vac adapter
how to change the attachment (adapter + screws, "Starlock" system not available currently)
