A crosscut saw is specialized for cutting across the grain of wooden workpieces, making it suitable for similar cuts as a chop saw as well as for resizing plywood sheets (you'll always cut through some layers across the grain). It has a rather wide kerf (cutting width) but is stiff enough to allow for corrections during your cut.
We have two crosscut saws that currently hang from a wall above the chop saw station in the wood workshop.
