This is the content required for an introduction to our Router - reading this does NOT replace the mandatory session with a tutor! It will make it a lot quicker though ;-)

Safety

Dangers

  • exposed & rapidly spinning router bit
  • no prevention of turning on after loss & restoration of power (keine Anlaufsicherung)
  • The drill gets extremely hot. Therefore, the sawdust can take fire.

Precautions

  • wear personal protection but not gloves, they could get caught!
  • stay clear of the drilling bit when in operation
  • unplug the router when changing a bit or touching the router for any other reason
  • be prepared for sudden movements of the workpiece and make sure it is properly secured
  • always check whether the tool movement you are planning is possible before turning it on - adjust depth and/or table if necessary
  • make sure there is nobody nearby who might be surprised by a piece of shrapnel flying their way!
  • if the power has been lost for whatever reason, make sure the router is turned off before restoring it!

Hints

  • be cautions not to remove too much material at a time
