Springs exist in many shapes and can be made out of various materials, but the one most people would immediately think of are metal coil springs (DE: Schraubenfedern).

They are found in all kinds of mechanisms and can easily be salvaged for other projects before throwing away pens or gadgets with moving parts. Taking apart something big like a broken printer will yield well over ten springs that may still be useful to someone! We have a few springs on site, feel free to use some or add the ones that you have saved from the trash can yourself.
