Blockboard is a type of engineered wood characterized by its high strength at relatively low thickness. It consists of two layers of veneer (DE: Furnier) with long blocks of solid wood in between. Cutting it perpendicularly to these blocks reveals a rather appealing pattern with many different end grain sections.
