Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. As with steel or other alloys, its physical properties change with the proportions of the mixture.

It is easy to machine and "stronger" than aluminum. Due to its high copper content, it conducts heat and electricity quite well. The downside is the price which makes it unappealing for bigger parts.
