For future seminars involving soldering, especially ones that are not done in the CoMakingSpace, a dedicated box with all the equipment that is needed would be really helpful. The RaumzeitLabor has one of these "Lötkoffer" and it is used quite frequently.

This list is only a list to collect ideas on what would be necessary and is not funded yet. If you feel that this would be a nice addition to the space you can help by adding your opinions and ideas to the list and consider helping out with the funding process.

Considerations

  • Number of people that should be able to solder at the same time?
    • Patrick Would go for something like 4-6
  • proper soldering stations or only hand-held irons like the TS100/TS80?
    • Patrick The TS100 or TS80 can be easily run from a battery in case there is no power available
  • only THT components or also SMT?
    • in case of SMT one Hot-Air reworkstation would be helpful

Case

Should we get a regular case ("Koffer"), get a bigger one on wheels (like a trolley?) or both?
Martin: If we want to use it for faires and for seminars, a trolley would fit best and provide lots of space

Soldering Equipment

  • 4 soldering irons
    • TS100 - 72€ with power supply
    • TS80 - 80€ with QC3 power supply
    • 48W no name - 50€
  • 4x brass wool + holder 5-10€
  • 4x silicon rubber matt
  • side cutters
  • PCB holders
  • tweezers

Consumables

  • flux
  • solder (non-leaded for seminars with kids)
  • wires

Project Execution

Next Steps

  1. Decide on open topics (case, soldering irons)
  2. Finalize BoM
  3. Put together an example project
    1. Decide, which project to use
    2. Ensure all needed components are available
    3. Create soldering instructions
  4. Ensure project funding (members or external sponsor)
  5. Build it!
