Acetone is a solvent. You can, for instance, use it to remove adhesive residues.
This chemical is quite aggressive, dissolves several plastics and should not be inhaled. If you plan on using it for an extended amount of time consider wearing gloves (latex or nitrile) because acetone removes oil from your skin on contact. Some kind of moisturizer is recommended after longer contact.
