Do-something day (23. September)

Lukas is hosting the next Do Something Day an will focus on making the space presentable for the coming open days.

What about the toilets? Can we make them less... dirty?

Ideas for projects for a next DSD:

• Kitchen: Integrate Induction stove, make sure the new table is more stable
• Old cables: recycle and sell to recycler
• Make list of ideal positions for new hanging outlets
• Make lists of necessary lamps and worklights

• Hot Metal Corner: Can we get a list of todos and finish during DSD?

Open Day (September 24th)

• The CoMakingSpace turns 5 in September!
• We will have an open day to celebrate this

• supervised activities for visitors - ideas & tutors welcome!

  • laser cutting/engraving (Sebastian)
    • Project:Laser Engraved Stamps?
    • personalized give-aways with logo/"offene Werkstatt in Heidelberg" + visitor's name? Could be pencils or clothespins
    • engraved portraits in wood? Requires much more preparation & machine time (cost!)
  • Upcycling of used beer/wine bottles (Lukas)

    • We've done simple scroll saw work in the past (Thomas Scholz)

    • We still have Project:Counter Board boards available
• lots of exhibition pieces wanted (show off your projects!)

• Todo: Enter in our calendar, so people know the space is blocked
• Activities are now registered:
  • 3D Printing (Lmnl99)
    • Keep printers running
    • Explain 3D Printing to the kids
    • Let kids design their own keychain (e.g. with their name)
    • Martin to check whether we can use the mouse logo
    • Topic relation: 3D Printers connect individual layers of plastics
  • Project:Laser Engraved Stamps
    • Topic relation: Connect analogue design / drawing with digital technology
  • Create a huge mouse and elephant from scrap that the kids can bring (and members donate upfront) Heidleberg trashure

Repair Café (October 15th)

• second installment of our Repair Café cooperation with Ökostadt Rhein-Neckar (the first event went great!)
• we need helpers who know their way around the Space and like to welcome new visitors ("Orga") and/or are good at fixing things ("Reparatur")

Art Corner

User:Heidleberg trashure is working on the Art-Corner and asking for assistance:

Ideas:

• Building set for mosaics
  • Please donate tiles, procelain, whole or broken
  • Does someone have ground, grout or tile glue?
  • need tools for working with tiles
• Get a plotter. Prices are relatively cheap (150-300€)
  • We have experience with silhouette devices
  • We can lend one for experimental purposes!
• Pottery
  • Hannah Wagner can do that in the mid term (2023)
  • Needs some space
  • Firing can be done externally (Open space, "Kreativ" in Märzgasse, Kulturfenster)
    • Maybe look for options in collaboration?
  • Pottery is highly attractive for a wide audience!

Any help, also with new ideas, is appreciated!

Consideration:

• Mosaics will create abrasive dust. Maybe bad in common room or near machines?
• Theres a basically unused table to the left directly after entering the woodworkshop from the common room. We could use that one
  • Will need light
• We need someone who will create a nice working corner for the project:
  • Lights, some kind of separation from the space maybe
