Resins (Harze) are commonly used in casting or SLA 3D printing.

Synthetic resins are often transparent but you may achieve many cool effects by mixing in additives of your choice!

The commercial retailer "Soller Composites" gives a short comparison of epoxy, vinylester and polyester resins that may help you choose the proper resin for your project (they recommend epoxy for nearly every application, but do mention some downsides).

SLA Printing

Light-curable resins can be used for 3D printing by curing one layer at a time. SLA printers basically pull a solid object out of a vat of liquid resin selectively illuminated from below.

While we do not have such a printer at the Space (as of 2026-5), there are several members who have one at home.
