Idea
As I received my introduction for the Laser Cutter I was supposed to also make something to show that I understood the process. Since I didn't want to waste material and since I don't like dust collectors I wanted to do something useful. In search for something fitting I noticed the Box used when paying for the machine usage and that the information in written on old tape and decided to give this a more fitting look.

Creation Steps / Process
Using Inkscape I rewrote the information and added two holes beneath it for screws to fasten the sign to the wooden box with small screws.
The first cut wasn't successful as the power produced through the settings from the wiki (in this case 3mm PMMA) was too little. The second try was a bit overkill but the sign made it out without too much scarring.
Learnings
Since this was my first time using Inkscape or the Laser Cutter, I naturally learned a lot on how the machine and the workflow work and about the basics. On thing I learned from the outcome of this project is that even if it's not easy, masking the to be engraved area beforehand is worthwhile and to not blindly trust the recommended setting but to try with a sacrificial piece.
