Material:Adhesive Tape
(Redirected from Masking Tape)
Adhesive tapes consist of some kind of backing covered with an adhesive on at least one side.
A good idea before applying any kind of adhesive tape to a smooth surface is to remove any dust and fat, e.g. by wiping it with a few drops of acetone.

Duct tape (from "duck tape" after the type of sturdy fabric) is a reinforced tape with excellent adhesion and stability properties on many materials. You can tear it by hand, and even though that is harder than with many other tapes scissors should not be used as they would get clogged with adhesive.
The very similar "gaffer tape" is mainly made from fabric instead of artificial polymers and features an adhesive that is more easily removable.
