Countersinks

From CoMakingSpace Wiki

Countersinks are the tools to create countersinks!

These tools make holes conical to let appropriately shaped ("countersunk"...) screws, rivets or other fasteners sit flush with the surface.

In German, the terms Senker for the tool and senken for the operation make it a bit clearer ;-)

Similar: counterbores (flat-bottomed holes or - again - the tools to cut them)

Types

Countersinks for wood and metal, but also different metals, may be very different. Make sure to pick the correct one for your project!
