Parallel guide for Festool

Idea

I want to build a Parallel guide for the Festool saw track. This guide can be used to cut large panels using a handsaw. Of course this is normally easier on the big "Formatkreissäge", but:

  • if the Formatkreissäge is not working properly
  • there is nobody in the space, so you can't use a table saw for security reasons
  • the plate you want to cut is simply to big for the "Formatkreissäge"

...then you might want to use the parallel guide in combination with a handheld circular saw. The good thing about a parallel guide is that you can do repeated cuts with a handheld circular saw.

Creation Steps / Process

Pretty straight forward: Finding a T-Nut-rail in the space (17x11) - approximately 1m , Printing the files using PETG-Filament from thingiverse (Makita Parallel guide for 11x17 t-track: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6332022 and Knob - M8: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5913832), inserting a 8mm bolt

Work in Progress:

--> I still have to buy the right T-Nuts and attach them to the T-Nut-rail

Further Improvements:

  • Attaching some kind of measuring tape would be ideal
  • a longer rail would be good for wider cuts.
