"Example" PPE?

What do you mean by "Example" in the table of suitable PPE? --Lukas (talk) 23:35, 8 April 2020 (CEST)

I've corrected the table to mirror the current requirements set in each individual introduction. If we want to change requirements, it should be done or discussed on the "old" pages imho so the previously introduced members are aware of it. Most notable, the bench grinder introduction requires gloves and goggles for all machines but both are arguably overkill on the slow-spinning wet stone. --Lukas (talk) 20:52, 29 April 2020 (CEST)

Forbidden Ear Protection?

Why is Hearing Protection forbidden for wet stone grinding? So far, we have recommended it depending on the type of material you are grinding.

For me, forbidding PPE does only make sense in case the PPE adds additional dangers (like gloves when using the drill press).

In my opinion, protecting yourself is more important than "hearing when something goes wrong". Therefore, I would change "forbidden" to "optional" here and remove the statement in the wet stone grinding section

That seams fair. I never had the need to wear HP but it might be useful if some one else is making a lot of noise or your workload dose. Most people don't wear HP even if it gets a little bit louder.

Pro Single Introductions

So far, I don't see this page replacing the single introductions. It may take out some redundance when actually giving all introductions at once, but is now substantially longer than each single one and pretty confusing. Unless we can make a major structural improvement, I prefer giving single introductions with a short demo of the machine and the interested person is ready to go instead of sending peoples' heads spinning with this long one when they might not even use 2/3 of the tools for a long time afterwards.

Also, the rotary tool is more than just a grinder - if anything, we should add content to its introduction, e.g. regarding end mills and dust-generating bits (similar to the Oscillating Tool Introduction) :-P --Lukas (talk) 21:04, 29 April 2020 (CEST)
