Topics

Here's the list so far - please don't hesitate to add more! If you won't be able to attend, you can add your comments here or in the discussion to take part anyway :-)

Project Presentations

Let's take up to 2 × 20 minutes before each plenum to show others what we're working on! If you are interested in talking about your projects, please announce it here and/or via the Mailing List:

  • Lukas showed some impressions from the Bahnstadtfest two weekends ago
    • "No, we didn't sell any toys"
    • Lukas fixed a wooden stick
  • Lukas also showed his current recurve bow project made from wood and old skies

Wonder what those four shady looking guys are doing with a dissembled electric car behind your CoMaking space?
Don't worry; we (Anton, Basti, Julius and Pius) just want to rethink future freight transport and make it efficient, sustainable and accessible at the last mile.
For this we decided to quit our day-jobs and build an electric urban transporter that is more agile and resource-saving than a normal car-like transporter but more powerful than a cargo bike.
We probably won't make it to the meeting, but if you want to go for a test ride, just ask us ;)

Communication Channels

There have been some misunderstandings and different opinions on the question whether Mailing List or Telegram Group should be "members only".

  • discuss what we need
  • declare & implement the updated policy
Martin: For me, the Mailing List and the Telegram Group are completely different and there is no reason to treat them the same way. The Telegram Group was used as and communicated as a platform for comakingspace members to communicate with other comakingspace members:
  • It is called "comakingspace" for a reason.
  • Even the wiki states that it is for members.
Therefore, I see no reason in opening the group for others. If anybody has the need to communicate with a broader audience, there is a WhatsApp group called "Makers Community HD". For me, the different names of the groups already indicate the scope! With this being said, I would though not go as far as immediately removing ex-members from our group. However, I would not advertise the telegram group outside of our members community (e.g. in the WhatsApp group). To me, having an informal communication channel (such as a telegram group) with only comakingspace members is a big addition to strengthening the feeling of being a community!
Personally, I couldn´t care less about who is on the Mailing List. Especially since it is used rarely. Even if people use it, it´s mainly for more formal communication (such as plenum announcement and summary).

Summary

The Telegram group should be for members and CoMakingSpace-associated people. Keep that in mind when sharing the link publicly.

The Mailing list is used for members and interested people.

CNC Mill

Blacksheep offered his CNC mill (capable of milling metals!) as a loan via the mailing list.

  • where could we put it?
  • which steps are needed to make it available (commissioning) and when could we get it?
  • We watched the video of the router during the plenum
    • Thanks to Keno for the sound effects
  • Generally people are interested in the machine
  • The specific introduction needs to be talked through with Blacksheep as there are special usage and safety needs
  • The location will likely be in the metal workshop after removing some of the precious plastic stuff

New (and newly available) tools at the space

  • There will be a lot of raspberry pi kits (and other soldering/arduino) stuff available soon
    • They will be used for seminars and external events
    • Patrick brought a case where they can fit all in - still needs some compartments though (an issue will be opened)

Collaboration possibilities

Who's not in our Mailing List or Telegram Group yet? Also check out Category:Community!

On ~~August 31st~~ So. 15. September, the CoMakingSpace exists for two years. We should celebrate our second birthday! How about planning another OpenDay, similar to last year?

  • Food
    • A smoker could be nice. Blacksheep mentioned a while ago he could offer one for such an event.

Do-something days

  • Luzian has holidays now and wants to organise one in the near future.

Seminar Ideas

Open Discussion

This is the place to talk about general improvements etc. - for example:

  • What did I do since the last plenum?
    • Luzian and Martin got the OpenScan into a usable state. It is located in the Electronics Room. When you try it, feel free to document your experiences and improve the scanner.
    • Johannes and Martin upgraded the EleksMill with new endstops. It is generally working, but has some issues with noise. We ordered optocoupler boards, which should hopefully fix that. In addition, we are looking for somebody to donate a Raspberry Pi (ideally model 3 upwards) in order to be able to control the small CNC just the same way as the large one (using CNCjs)!
  • What am I planning to do until the next plenum?
  • What went wrong?
    • The 3D printer usage during the Hackathon could have been noted on table. Also the wiring of the power cord was not in its original condition.
    • Please don't put stickers on the common room table! If you want to express your creative side do a Project!
  • What went well?
  • What should get done at the space (new issues)?
