Polypropylene

Lasering PP containers.jpg
Synonyms: polypropene; DE: Polypropylen
Suggested Tools: laser cutter

PP is typically found in food boxes (Tupperware etc.) as a transparent plastic.

Shaping

As a thermoplastic, PP can be melted relatively easily, enabling you to penetrate it with a laser cutter. You should expect some fumes to settle as a milky film, but that can be wiped off afterwards.

Fretsaws do not work very well with a typical PP container.
