==== Top 1: Year in Revue ====
We have a successful year 2022 behind us. We are currently slightly profitable, which is great, especially compared to the last few years! There were months with clearly positive results and some months that were rather expensive. Let's start with the rather expensive months:

* In April we had a clear effect due to investments in the workshop. Here we invested in the new laser filter and the construction of the new storage boxes.
* In June, the effect comes primarily from costs for tax advice.
* In August we also see investments in the workshop again: there it was the investments in the sanding corner
* Among the positive months, November stands out: here we received the money from the Bauhaus Plus cards and there were several funded workshops in the Space
* Overall, the finances currently look like they are steadily improving. We're not quite where we want to be yet, but we're on the right track.

A lot happened in the workshop in 2022. I'm sure I'm forgetting some of it (feel free to add), but just a few highlights that come to mind:

* Patrick was able to build the new laser exhaust. It's a definite upgrade from the one before :)
* We can be mega proud that @LukasFreeze recently announced that we have 100 members! This is a success of the Supervisors
* We had two Repair Cafés in the Space. The cooperation with Ökostadt is going great!
* We were able to set up a bicycle workshop. The money for this came from the funding for the cargo bike.
* The sanding corner has been updated. The new tools are a lot of fun
* We have a new CNC router that can mill hardwood and metals
* The bigger lathe is also a real upgrade!
* For the e-bench we were able to use funding to buy a good soldering station, extractors with filters and an additional ESD mat.
* The tutors really got involved and gave instructions for all they were worth.
* Johannes was able to start with the upgrade of the electrical installation in the hall. As soon as that is finished and approved, it will also be a great upgrade for the workshop.

There's a new Tor 4 Grant Application round: We should participate! We don't need a grant application, instead we enter a lottery in which partners a drawn in teams of three (i.e. we could be paired with a theatre group). This is an excellent source of financing.

**We can lend one for experimental purposes!
**Plotters have a lot of synergy with general maker processes:
***creating stencils for spraying
***using pens/brushes in toolholders for "handwritten" signs
*Screen printing
**Great synergy with the plotter
**Screen printing equipment is relatively cheap / DIYable, and attracts a wide audience
*Pottery
**Hannah Wagner can do that in the mid term (2023)

Host Making Hours (e.g. Wednesday and Friday evening) and teach new members about our machines. We need more supervisors to offer reliable Making Hours and tutors to keep introduction [[Waiting Lists|waiting lists]] nice and short! It's a great way to get integrated more deeply with the space.

====== Repair Café: ======
We have been contacted by the Heidelberger Repair Cafe. The current concept would be:

* Organise up to four Saturdays a year of Repair Café in the Space (first 1-2 test runs, not everything has to be fixed now).
* Exchange with the volunteer list of the "normal" cafés
* Focus on "mechanical" - wood, 3D-printing, *perhaps* turning or other metalwork (little to no electrical work, unless someone likes to offer it - but the "normal" dates already do that quite well)
* most of the work takes place in the common room; people with suitable repair pieces can go 1:1 (or 1:2, depending on the activity) with members to the workrooms to get machine work done or handwork demonstrated

We need motivated people that help with posting on social media. This has been a great attractor for new members, but we do not post enough. A dedicated PR working group could help to create a more steady schedule.

This one-time job needs someone to research available email hosters for the space. This would allows us give email-addresses to supervisors and (possibly) engaged members.

Idea: Train the Trainers session: We need to lower the barrier for people to come forward and become a tutor. Also good for our mission of education! We might need to find a trainer if we want to professionalize it.

With new members comes new knowledge. Seminars are a great way to provide experience and knowledge to a broader audience! And in the end, spreading knowledge is the ultimate reason why we run the space. It also helps us with justifying and keeping our charitability.

We have been contacted by the Heidelberger Repair Cafe. The current concept would be:

* Organise up to four Saturdays a year of Repair Café in the Space (first 1-2 test runs, not everything has to be fixed now).
* Exchange with the volunteer list of the "normal" cafés
* Focus on "mechanical" - wood, 3D-printing, *perhaps* turning or other metalwork (little to no electrical work, unless someone likes to offer it - but the "normal" dates already do that quite well)
* most of the work takes place in the common room; people with suitable repair pieces can go 1:1 (or 1:2, depending on the activity) with members to the workrooms to get machine work done or handwork demonstrated

This tool is very useful for panel glue-ups, where the evenly placed biscuits prevent the individual boards from shifting.

====== Supervisors: ======
Host Making Hours (e.g. Wednesday and Friday evening). We need more supervisors to offer more Making Hours! It's a great way to get integrated more deeply with the space.

====== Repair Café: ======
We have been contacted by the Heidelberger Repair Cafe. The current concept would be:

* Organise up to four Saturdays a year of Repair Café in the Space (first 1-2 test runs, not everything has to be fixed now).
* Exchange with the volunteer list of the "normal" cafés
* Focus on "mechanical" - wood, 3D-printing, *perhaps* turning or other metalwork (little to no electrical work, unless someone likes to offer it - but the "normal" dates already do that quite well)
* most of the work takes place in the common room; people with suitable repair pieces can go 1:1 (or 1:2, depending on the activity) with members to the workrooms to get machine work done or handwork demonstrated
